A Hand Up
When I was younger my parents were always helping others out. We had over 40 people live with us through different seasons. Sometimes it was individuals, one time is was a family of six and the father was in a wheelchair. These experiences helped shape who I am today and helped me to realize that the real joy in life is giving back to others less fortunate.
At Stature, we want to utilize what we can to support local nonprofits, to lift others up, and to be actively involved in the community. This year we are focusing on Serve Denton. Serve Denton maximizes giving dollars by allowing multiple nonprofits to co-locate and save on overhead.
From the Serve Denton Website:
Serve Denton is the largest nonprofit center in Denton County and one of the largest in Texas. It is a 4.8 acre nonprofit center located on North Loop 288. Over 29,000 cars pass by our location every single day and there is a DCTA bus stop right across Market St.
We partner with numerous local nonprofits—most of which have physical offices in the building—in order to make social services more accessible for people in need.

“When you prohibit failure, you kill innovation.” – Dan Palotta
Activist and fundraiser Dan Pallotta calls out the double standard that drives our broken relationship to charities. Too many nonprofits, he says, are rewarded for how little they spend – not for what they get done. Instead of equating frugality with morality, he asks us to start rewarding charities for their big goals and big accomplishments (even if that comes with big expenses).
